Restricted Books & Materials

The following is a list of books and other instructional materials that are restricted or not permitted in Lexington School District Two media centers or classrooms.  There are two tabs at the top of this list.  One is for books that are either restricted or not permitted in the school media center or classroom libraries and cannot be accessible to students.  The other tab is for any classroom or programmatic sites or materials that are either restricted or not permitted for use in Lexington Two classrooms with students.  Please see the notes column for any important notes about the nature of the restriction (ex: limited to a certain grade level or not permitted for use) and the reason column for how or why the material was restricted.

Unless otherwise noted, any books marked with the reason "State Law R. 43-170" are prohibited because they contain depictions of sexual conduct as described within the law or contain explicit/graphic material that is not age appropriate for school-aged children.  As we work through the regulations of the new law, evaluations may shift or change.  The SCBE has begun rendering decisions on books and other instructional materials.  Any books marked with the reason "SCBE Removal" have been found in violation of State Law R. 43-170 by the SCBE review committee and are not permitted in any library or classroom statewide.  We will keep this list updated and add notifications into Destiny Classroom Manager as well to give you the most up-to-date information.  Click here to access a list of books that have been retained by the SCBE review committee.  While the review committee decided that these books do not violate R. 43-170, please review and make sure they are appropriate to the age and grade-level you teach.  Click here to access the SCBE official page for review decisions.  Note, there may be a delay between when decisions are announced and the SCBE page is updated.
